Released earlier this year, the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti is
NVidia’s new flagship gaming graphics card promising to deliver the world’s
most advanced GPU architecture. For those of you who do not know, NVidia is one
of the leaders in the GPU space, offering a wide number of products catering to
all consumers. In this case, NVidia’s Geforce GTX 1080 Ti is absolutely an
enthusiast card catering to those willing to spend the extra money to get
maximum performance out of their rig. Before buying, my criteria for a new card
was being able to play games at 4K resolution, which is 3840 by 2160 pixels
(8.3 Million), in addition to being able to power a virtual reality headset. The
1080 Ti fit the bill perfectly, though the price tag of $699.99 can be hard to
swallow, consider that this card will be able to perform at a high level for
many years to come. So, on the actual review of the card. First, the build
quality of the card is great. The card uses the highest-grade materials and
looks exceptional. The card is recommended to run with a 600+ wattage system,
so keep this in mind if you are considering this card. Performance wise, the
cards runs fantastically. It is super quiet and runs at great temperatures. In
terms of games, it could handle anything thrown at it in 4K, as well as the few
VR games that were tested. Because this card features 11GB of video ram, it is
able to run anything that requires high resolution textures. In conclusion, if
you are in the market for a 4K or VR capable card, look no further than the
NVidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti. It is an absolute beast of a graphics card.
I was finally able to check a new relatively new game that
has been a smash hit, selling over 4 million copies since its release in April.
That game is Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. The game is available on PC and is
selling for $29.99. It is important to note this game is early access, meaning
that it is not entirely complete and changes and fixes will be continuously
implemented as the game nears completion.
So, with that said, let’s get into the premise of the game. Based upon
the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, the player is dropped onto an island with
other players with the sole purpose of eliminating the other players to be the
last one surviving. This entails scavenging for weapons and supplies to better
one’s chances of survival. Mechanically speaking, the game can be a little
difficult to get into for those who are not seasoned PC gamers, but after a few
rounds, that subsides and continues to diminish as time goes on. Whether you’re
looking for a casual open world antics, or a competitive strategic battle, this
game provides enjoyment in several ways. Being that Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds
is a newer and early access game, it tends to run worse on older hardware. So,
consult the store page to see if your system specs are enough to run the game.
I have really enjoyed my time with this game, there were times where my heart
was racing as I was one a the last few survivors. It was a unique experience I
have not had in a video game in a while. If you have the system and money to
check this game out, I highly recommend it.
